It's Worth Mentioning Again---Good Things Do Happen!

(The following was first posted on Oct. 4, 2010, but I think you'll appreciate getting to know Carol if you don't already. And, if you'd like to join her group on Facebook, please email me at WCplace@gmail.com and I'll introduce you. This week I have the rare and delightful privilege of having my son, his girlfriend, and her parents visiting me! Please allow for some time lag in when I might be able to reply to your messages. Thanks for visiting, and come again anytime.)   ferree

Here are two people who believe in miracles--I'm sure they'd claim to be living proof! When Carol's husband died in 2007, she never dreamed she'd be married a little over three years later!

She was introduced to her new husband, Chris, by her auto mechanic who just happened to be Chris's brother. If you follow Carol's posts on Facebook and happen to see wisecracking comments by a guy named David--well, he's the one who introduced them. I think he wanted the title of "World's Greatest Brother-in-law."
Chris and Carol got to know each other slowly over about two years. Chris not only fell in love with Carol, but also grew to love her two little children. In their wedding vows, Chris promised to be Carol's husband, and also to love the children. (Update: Since then he adopted them!)

Here's a picture of me with Carol. I can't tell you how thrilled I was to be invited!

I love the variety of ways God brings new life and love to widows. Some, like Carol and myself, are blessed with a new husband. But that's not the only way God heals and restores.
God's plans go far beyond all that we can ever imagine. Every Wednesday I highlight stories of widows so you can see the many amazing things that are accomplished, the new lives begun.
I hope you'll ask yourself, "What might God accomplish through my own life?" Just last week I mentioned what three other widows were doing that day: one had just bought her deer hunting permit, one was getting ready for the governor's visit to her office, and one was getting an ultrasound of her baby! Those are pretty amazing examples of the great variety and plans God has for each of us!

The sweet little umbrella protecting the bride and groom on top of
Carol and Chris's wedding cake reminded me of God's grace and protection for them, and His words of truth and promise for us all:

"I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jer. 29:11

So don't give up, even though it feels like you're caught floundering in rough seas. God does have good plans for you, full of hope and a good future. Watch for His truth to happen to you!

  2. Isn't Carol so beautiful! Her joy just radiates from her face! That is encouraging to me even though I have no desire to remarry. I just want to feel true joy again.

  3. A recent Blog on WCP was the question is God really good?
I say yes, yes and yes again.
Congratulations to this precious couple and pray God's grace and blessings be upon them as they journey onward.

    Thanks for sharing this.
