URGENT! Please pray....

Do you remember this prayer request from July 2? (comments also appear)
Please pray for the new young widows of the firefighters from Prescott, AZ. There are at least six. Some are pregnant, and some have little children. How our hearts go out to them.

Since that time I've learned there are 10 young widows. Some newly married, some are pregnant, some have little children. Widows know how to pray for widows, and God says He will "defend the cause of the fatherless and the widow" (Deuteronomy 10:18) and He will "certainly hear" your cry. (Exodus 22:23) You know how important it will be to pray for these women over the long haul.

Especially pray for the memorial service today, airing in Prescott, AZ from 11:00 - 1:00. I don't know what time zone that indicates, but you can check your local listing. I can't urge you enough to please pray. Thank you.

  1. Thank you, Ferree, for posting this request. My precious late husband and I moved to Prescott in 2005 and were so content here. Our little town is devastated by grief, but is strong and we're pulling together to support the Hotshot families. The oldest of the team was 43, four were in their 30s, and the rest were in their 20s, including one who was only 21 years old. It's been heartbreaking in many ways, but such a blessing to see how the community has been drawn closer. I pray that this awful thing that's happened will help us all to realize how much we need the Lord in our lives, every day.

  2. Dear Patricia, You will all be in our hearts and prayers during the days ahead. The Lord is close to the broken-hearted.

  3. Heavenly Father
We come to you in your mercy and love, and
ask for your grace to be upon each and every
widow and bereaved soul of those 19 firefighters.
As fresh widows, as seasoned widows the pain is
so real, the confusion, the numbness, and all that
goes with the loss of a husband.
    We ask that your
presence sustain them and when they haven't the presence of mind to put one foot in front of the other, we trust in your grace to carry them. You promise that when we go through the deepest waters of trouble, you would be with us. We ask for their sorrow not to consume them and they will be forever in the consoling presence and comfort of your Holy Spirit.

In Christ and his everlasting love
