A Widow's Insight

Jer 18:3,4 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
I'm entering the part of my journey where God will now begin to reshape me - remold me....been here done this before....it's not easy - but it has to... be done.

When Joe and I were together - my weaknesses were his strengths. My strengths overcame his weaknesses. It's a true testament to the handiwork of God - how He can bring two completely different people together with such vastly different thoughts, personalities and opinions and meld them in to one perfect union - and yet still allow them to be two separate individuals.

Now that Joe is gone - God has to reshape and remold me. He has to smooth away those weaknesses - those flaws - so He can mold me into the woman He has planned for me to become. A widow. A woman who can care for herself and her family alone - yet remain solely dependent upon Him for her care.

It's not easy to surrender to the Potter. At 53 I know His wheel. It's often painful. It's not easy to release your will for His will when you've become comfortable with your weaknesses - and happy with your strengths.

But on the wheel I go whether I like it or not - the Author of my life isn't finished with my story. One thing I learned in the past - the faster I submit and welcome the change .....the faster God can complete His masterpiece....

  5. Wow!! Thank you so much, Kathleen! This so eloquently delineates where I am right now. I am painfully aware of my weaknesses as I struggle to maintain relationships with difficult people. My Nate was always there to help me to do and say "the right thing".. Now. It's so different. So refreshing to be reminded that the Author of my life isn't finished with my story.

  6. Perfect!

Just the encouragement I needed for the challenges of "change" that are looming just ahead.

It is not easy to say the smallest word, "No", to those who would subtly erode our freedom and well-being.

I have found wonderful help in two books, Boundaries, and When the Body Says No. I'm grateful that the Lord keeps teaching us. He does want us to walk in liberty.

It takes courage to change and to take a risk. But God can give us the desire to change and the boldness it takes.

"The young lion (obvious threat) and the adder (subtle threat) thou shalt trample under foot." That's a promise of victory!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful meditation.

    Blessings,
    Honey Bee

  7. Dear Honey Bee, What a great insight into God's promise of victory, and that we also walk in liberty. Like Louisa said, The Author isn't finished with our stories, and we are strengthened day by day to take on challenges we never thought we could. I'm so glad to hear from both of you. Honey Bee, I'm still praying for your treatments.
