Find A Rolemodel

This is the year to turn GO-ing through grief to GROW-ing through grief by following this blog and implementing R Roadmap.

This year each day of the week will help you locate where you are in your grief journey and pinpoint a step you can take.

So far we've summed up what Mondays and Tuesdays will hold.
Mondays: READ, listen, watch and learn about grief.
Tuesdays: RETELL your own story.

On Wednesdays this year I'll help you Find a ROLEMODEL.

You've probably already been looking for a rolemodel, whether you realize it or not. We all need to see how others navigate this huge change in life called widowhood. Older widows often find a welcoming group of rolemodels in their church. Young widows may find they are the only one in their situation! But as Ruth in the Bible had Naomi, and Naomi had Ruth, it's very important to find at least one widow to emulate. She might be someone from your family---a grandma, aunt, mother, sister; someone from church; someone from a support group; a Bible character, historical figure or author or speaker of today! God has placed us here for each other and help is on the way! When we see how others have survived we learn what to do and what mistakes to avoid.

So, Wednesdays will continue to feature widows stories and interviews and I hope you'll choose at least one of these special women to use as your own guide through widowhood.

Tomorrow we'll look at Reframing Our Perspective. This is looking at life from God's point of view, and it's essential to surviving grief and then thriving in the next chapter of your life.

  1. Ferree,

Thank you for being such a good role model for me. It's not just because of your book, website, and support groups. It's because of your Faith, your honesty, your understanding, your encouragement, and your openness of your journey through grief.

I am sure I'm not alone - as you have been a role model for many here. <3

  2. Cathy, its been a privilege to come alongside you on your journey. You're a remarkable woman with many possibilities ahead. I seldom think of myself as a role model, but if I can do it. . . you know how to finish that phrase. :) In reality, we are each there for someone, we're people full of promise on an amazing path. Thank you for your encouraging comment!
