Rest & Be Blessed

Saturday Sabbatical reminds us to cut some time in our schedule to "Come apart before you come apart." It's a time to read a verse, say a prayer or just sit down for a moment to practice the fine art of doing nothing. Of course we don't have to wait for a Saturday to do this!--This is just the day featuring more of a devotional post. Feel free to use it any day of the week.

I don't know if you've ever read the book of Numbers in the Bible, but honestly? It's a little dry. Unless you're into "numbers" and get excited about finding out how many men age 30-50 were in each tribe of Israel. It's kind of like reading about the US Census: necessary but tedious.

Every once in a while, though, God bursts out of those numbers with a blast of blessing and rest for our souls. Just like daily life, in the midst of the daily grind we find daily grace.

Take a moment to be still while the words of this blessing cover you and your day:

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face to shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV)
Have a good weekend.
