A Soldier's Widow

The first American to be killed in the first war of the twenty-first century was CIA paramilitary officer, Mike Spann, deployed to Afghanistan after Sept. 11, 2001. You can read about Mike and his heroics and those of the Special Forces he was assisting in the book, “Horse Soldiers,” by Doug Stanton. You'll also get an inside look at the politics and country of Afghanistan.

Read about his widow, Shannon, at the following site. Shannon and Mike were married less than a year. Shannon was left with their baby boy, and Mike’s 9-year-old and 4-year-old daughters. It's a tough situation but her attitude and confidence in God are great!

On Wednesdays we share stories of widows, a different one each week.
They might be from the Bible, from history, from the news headlines or maybe even from you! Your “ordinary” story will be told here to others who will understand that what you've been through is truly “extraordinary.” Your friends, family, and maybe even your children will want to read it, so it’s a great way to share with them both now and in the years ahead. Just email me at wcplace@gmail.com and I will make it easy for you.
