Free Books This Month!

Have you ever wanted someone to hold your hand and guide you along this journey through grief? A book by an author who "gets it" is the perfect solution.

Like 9/11 widow, Jennifer Sands, says in the beginning of the book I'm writing (coming out in September, Lord willing!) . . .

In the pitch blackness of grief and widowhood, this book is a beacon of light that illuminates the path of hope. Ferree’s wisdom, honesty, humor, and conversational tone makes us feel like we’re having coffee with a dear, old friend… crying and laughing and trying to make sense out of our devastating loss . . .

Not only my book, but there are many books that can be our best friend, touching our hearts like no one else. Books can encourage, strengthen and pull us through the darkest of days. C.S. Lewis said, "We read to know that we are not alone." A good book is like a faithful companion, a walking partner, when no one else is around. When no one can possibly understand, the right book will prove to be a steady voice and guide.

When I was widowed, blogs and Facebook didn't exist as they do now. I didn't "google" for advice. Instead, I held on to three books like life preservers:
  • Not Ready to Walk Alone, by Judith Fabisch
  • Let Me Grieve, But Not Forever, by Verdell Davis
  • Though I Walk Through The Valley, by Vance Havner
I'll never give away those three books, those three dear friends of mine. But I have SEVENTEEN other wonderful books that can be your new BFF, because I am giving them away FREE at the end of this month! (Later today I'll post a FREE BOOK GIVE-AWAY tab at the top of the blog so you can refer to the list any time).

How can you get a free book?
It's simple! All you have to do is comment on any (or every) July 2- 31, 2012 Widows Christian Place blog post. The more days you comment, the greater your chances to win!
Every time you comment, your name will be entered into the August 2nd drawing, four weeks from today. If I draw your name, I will contact you, and you may choose a free book! (Shipping is free, too!)

START TODAY!
  • Click the Comment line below. A box will open, and you can type your comment there. Your comment doesn't appear right away, not until I publish it for you, so don't worry---you're not supposed to see it right away. (That's my way of weeding out spammers).
  • MOST IMPORTANT! After you comment, please email me with your name and either your email or phone number so I can contact you if I draw your name. (Of course, I promise I will not give your info to anyone).  You only need to email me once.
  • Enter/comment only one time per post. (Yes, you can go back and comment on July 2, 3, and 4! or any July 2012 days you miss.)
  • Winners will receive only one book.
  • Spammers don't get anything but the delete button.
  • And if I don't have your contact info, I can't send you a prize, so don't forget to email me, too!

IN SUMMARY:
  • One comment per day this July.
  • When you make your first comment, email your contact info to me at WCplace@gmail.com
  • Tuesday, July 31 is the last day to enter. Winners will be drawn on Thursday, Aug. 2.
I hope you'll have some fun with this!

  6. Think of it...You belong to a God
    who has no limitations.
    His provisions are endless,
    His blessings are measureless,
    and His generosity is boundless.
All that is in His heart (for you)
flows out in waves of love.

  7. Wow! After reading Kathleen Rehl's story, I am all the more interested in her book, "Moving Forward on Your Own: A Financial Guidebook for Widows." This sounds like a gold mine of helpful information for the many questions I have. How wonderful that she took it upon herself to want to help widows with financial guidance after she lost her husband. She's using the gifts of financial knowledge that God gave her to now help other widows. May God multiply His blessings to her. LGO

Using a computer rather than a cell phone seems to work better. Thanks again!
