Wednesday, October 19, 2011 the angels came and carried Kathy home to be with the Lord. Her passing was sudden and unexpected and a great loss to all who knew her.
Kathy and I were married August 28, 2011 at Calvary Bible Fellowship in Madison, WI. I was 56 and she was 49 and it was the first marriage for both of us. The wedding was a wonderful time with nearly 170 well-wishers on hand to witness the event. Sadly, the same room that hosted our wedding also serviced her funeral less than eight weeks later.
Kathy will be remembered for many things as she brightened the lives of all who knew her. Kathy completed my life as my wife for a very brief time…Time that I will cherish. I grew to love Kathy with a love so incredibly deep and strong…A love that I had never experienced before.
Kathy was poor but content and we enjoyed planning the move out of the modest apartment where she had lived in for many years and into a house of our own that she could fix up just the way she wanted.
Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? James 2:5.
Kathy was limited by disability but had unlimited faith. How much faith does it take to believe, at age 48, that God would deliver a never-married man literally to her door from half-way across the country to ask for her hand in marriage? And that’s exactly what happened.
…Yes, Lord,” she said “but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table”. Then Jesus answered, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” Matthew 15:27, 28.     I would like to extend thanks to all who touched our lives.

  1. Such a sweet, but very sad story that they were together for such a short time after waiting so long for the right mate. His pain and grief must be so great.

  2. Britt, I'm so sorry your sweet Kathy had to leave you so soon after the marriage you both waited so long for. My heart aches for you. I pray God will comfort you as only He can. We can never understand in this lifetime why God allows things like this to happen. We can only know, believe, and cling to the fact that God loves us and He is sovereign and holy and will be with us in our sorrow and bring us through it to a place of acceptance and contentment, and hopefully new joy. I am still in process for that myself, but I have faith that it will come! God bless you.

  4. Britt, I'm so sorry for your loss. My husband and I were just married for 2 1/2 years, and that wasn't long enough. I can only imagine how hard it is to experience such a high and such a low in that short period of time as you have. I pray the Lord will heal your broken heart, and carry you from now until you enjoy a sweet reunion with your dear one.
