Christian Radio Is A Great Resource for Widows

If anyone is alone this holiday, you don't need to be. You can be surrounded by wise, talented, and good people of Christian radio who will help you understand and grow strong in your relationship with the God who has said, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)

Songs In The Night -- I hope there's a station nearby for you to tune in to this program when you can't sleep at night. As the website of Moody Church media explains, "For 60 years, Songs in the Night has been bringing hope, comfort, and encouragement to believers around the globe. With its unique combination of music and devotional commentary, Songs in the Night helps people to relax and unwind in preparation for another busy week." When you click on the link, be sure to then follow the link to find a station with the program in your state.

Surrounding yourself with wholesome, positive music is a good remedy for grief. Click on the music video link on the sidebar here, but also why not fill your home or car with good music, too? Christian radio gives you great variety, the convenience of not having to put together your own playlists, and gives you first offerings of the very latest from today's musicians. Tune your radio in, or stream it to your computer, etc.

Here are links to major Christian radio networks that I know of. If I've missed any, pipe in and I'll add them.
K-LOVE - contemporary
Salem Communications - select a variety of music traditions and Bible teaching from Max Lucado and others
Moody Broadcasting - my personal favorite, especially Midday Connection with a--(hmm, do I have to say the word old?--let me say former?--long ago?--how about wonderful?) --classmate from my student days studying communications at Moody Bible Institute, Melinda Schmidt.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for salvation--that the Lord saved me from eternity in hell; He also saved me from my own personal hells of sinful choices and destructive thinking, and from the enemy himself who makes this world as close to hell as believers in Christ will ever get.  I realize those aren't the usual traditional thoughts to sink a fork into a slice of turkey with, but rock-bottom---that's the foundation of all thanksgiving. God made a way for us to escape Hell! I'm going to bend the knee to Him today!

  1. I have almost exclusively listened to Christian music and other types of Christian radio programming in the last 20 months. I find it to be uplifting.

Negotiating one's way through grief is difficult. Making good choices about what messages we take in while we're so vulnerable is terribly important.

I am very thankful for you and your ministry, Ferree! You have blessed me in the last year with your wisdom and example. God bless you! :)

  2. Joannah, I thank God for you! I'm grateful to have found your blog when I did, and to have seen your amazing story unfold. Truly, through the littlest of choices --like thoughts we dwell on--open us up to God's grace and enabling power. Blessings on your holidays.

  3. I agree! Thank You, God, for Christian radio! Sometimes it's hard to think, let alone pray, and it's been such a comfort to have Christian music available at the ready to soothe the waves of grief as they arise.
