After Thanksgiving

The big day is over. How'd you do? Did you make it through?
You're here, so I'll take that as a good sign. You survived, and maybe even thrived. There's a lot of good we can say about gratitude . . . and being busy!

Yet, some surely got knocked down. That's the nature of grief.
God knows this. He understands. And for those sort of days, He's written these words in Psalm 145 and 146. In my Bible they are on opposite pages and almost directly across from each other. As I look at these pages in my open Bible, I can easily imagine them lifting up like butterfly wings--so fragile, so beautiful, so colorful--and just strong enough to fly-- helping my soul to lift, too.

Psalm 145:14 - The Lord upholds all those who fall
and lifts up all who are bowed down.
Psalm 146:8 - . . . the Lord lifts up those
who are bowed down . . .

Set some time aside this weekend to rest in the Lord. Bow down and count on the promise that He will --  yes, He will-- lift you up.

  1. Thankfully, God is not intimidated by our roller-coasters of emotion that come with this grief journey and He faithfully lifts us whether we are in the pit of despair or on the mountaintop of Joy on a good day. Thank You for that , Lord, and many thanks to you, Ferree, for your daily dose of encouragement and concern!
    Blessings, Renee'
