Single Living Skill: Considering Re-marriage?

I have a feeling a lot of widows are wondering about dating and re-marriage, so I'm going to think and pray about sharing my experience. In the meantime, here are two books and an article. I heard about the step-mom book from Focus On The Family, and the article and remarriage book were referred by Family Life.

The Family Life website houses this good article:

Please let me know what you think of these resources, and please think and read before you re-marry!

  1. I really liked the article about re-marriage. I know there are exceptions, but I think I agree with the timelines the writer put out. Thanks for posting!

  2. I liked it too, Kelly. The timelines are a good framework, although I think remarriage could come a little quicker if there are no children involved or if the children are grown and married themselves. In any case, though, it's nice to have a guideline and this article provides a very reasonable and safe one in my opinion. Nice to hear from you!

  4. I think the link is broken to the article. I found it here: http://www.cbn.com/family/parenting/Deal_remarriage.aspx
I thought the time periods suggested were long! However of course it depends on the person. I'm happily remarried after my hubby died. I have 8 children and I began dating after a year. My new husband who has no children of his own is totally God's provision. Try single parenting with 8! And I believe the apostle Paul advises young widows to remarry. I still grieve but I don't do it alone. You can find me blogging at Thinking Widow
